Using Email Co
Registration to Generate Sales Leads
by Andre Plessis
EMAIL CO-REGISTRATION
Co-registration is one of the most cost-effective ways to generate leads for
your business. This type of advertising places your brief description in the
offers section across a network of websites visible to individuals and
businesses. This short ad involves a checkbox that allows prospective readers to
automatically subscribe to your newsletter and receive information from your
company.
The process of generating sales leads starts the second an individual or
business clicks on your offer, and opt-in to receive more information on your
products/services.
Leads are sent to advertisers on a daily basis or every few days in batch. There
are 3 types of co-registrations and may include the following information:
Email Address + IP Address + Timestamp.
Email + Full Name + IP Address + Timestamp.
Complete records which include: Email, Full Name, IP, Timestamp, Address, City,
State, Country, Zip, Phone, Gender, Date of birth
Co-registration is priced according to how many fields you need.
There are a few ways to collect those leads.
Option 1: Opt In.
Opt-in means that the individual has to check the box to receive your offer,
which makes it a lot more valuable than the opt-out option.
Opt-in leads are the foundation of "permission-based" marketing (as opposed to
spam, or Unsolicited Commercial Email).
Option 2: Opt Out leads.
In this scenario, the box next to your listing would be checked by default.
These leads are obviously the cheapest, because they generate a response
passively. If the visitor requests any information on on the registration form,
you get a lead.
However, this also presents a major problem: many Internet users will not
realize they have to un-check everything they don't want.
Unfortunately, although they are simple to acquire, Opt-out leads can be a high
risk for spam complaints.
Option 3: Double Opt-In
These leads are just like an opt-in lead, except that when the visitor checks
the box and requests information, they are then automatically sent an e-mail
that asks them to confirm that they do want the requested information from your
company.
The intention behind this is to cut down on spam complaints, where people forget
that they opted to receive something.
The problem is, as much as 50% of these leads fail to confirm this step, either
intentionally or unintentionally, causing the number of successful leads
dropping significantly.
Beware Incentives! Some services will offer their visitors incentives such as
free "points" or even real cash to encourage them to sign up for newsletters and
other offers. The problem is that many people may sign up for your offer because
they are receiving a reward for doing it. Be wary of incentive based lead
generation campaigns.

Your Description.
Most good co-registration and lead generation services allow you complete
control over your offer description. Be very precise in your description in
order to better qualify the subscribers you receive. Because you're only paying
for the email addresses and other basic information of the individuals who
select your sales offer, you want to make sure that these individuals are very
interested. How your offer reads will help the quality verification process.
Co-registration leads are much cheaper than the cost of a dedicated lead
generation program, where prospects are more highly-qualified and respond
specifically and only to your offer. Co-Registration programs allow you to build
a large database prospects very quickly.
Co-Registration is a very popular method used to acquire large numbers of
customers in form of Newsletter subscribers or for your database of prospects.
It is used by ALL the medium & large internet companies out there for several
reasons:
The costs of Email co-registration are much lower than of pay per click search
engines pop ups and even cheaper then targeted banner ads!
Price - Co-registration services charge anywhere from $0.02 to over $1.00
You should mainly acquire co registrations to build your own newsletter.
In doing so, you gain the right to maintain repeated, regular contact with your
subscribers, which has a few advantages:
Establishes a relationship and a bond of trust between you and your prospective
customer.
Provides your readers with a specific example of the sort of quality and
integrity they'll come to expect from you, if they become customers.
Shows your commitment to giving (via your helpful quality content of your
newsletter), before taking anything (promoting and/or endorsing your products or
services to your readers).
If you have read my May Newsletter you know how important it is to build a
newsletter and how it can help you increase your revenues.
Keep in mind that all the lead generation companies who sell leads on the
Internet have many different ways of acquiring leads. That may be using banner
advertising, pop advertising, search engine marketing or email marketing. You
can do the same now and generate your own leads buying co registrations and then
follow up via email or phone with those individuals who opted in to receive
information on your offer.
